It’s always heartening to see young and budding cricketers perform on the field. It gives an assurance that the future of the game is in good hands.

With that thought, we present the top 5 batting performances in the month of January 2016 for Under 14 category. Surprisingly, all 5 knocks were unbeaten ones and resulted in big victories for their respective teams. Please note that these have been shortlisted only on the basis of the matches published on www.digipavilion.com

1. Akash Nayak- 179* in All India BK Gupta Memorial

This was by far the best performance of the month. The gigantic knock came from Nayak’s willow in just 69 balls with 23 boundaries and 11 hits over the fence. This knock helped his team, Bal Bhavan Dwarka register a thumping 238 runs victory over St. Thomas School Dwarka. (Match Report)

2. Mayank Gusain- 127* in All India BK Gupta Memorial

Yet another century. Yet another big victory for the team. Mayank’s century was pure masterclass and he punished the bowlers to all parts of the ground. His century followed by bowlers excellent show helped Vidya Jain School register a 167 run victory against MRV School. (Match Report)

3. Prabal Pratap Singh- 118* in Wow Sports Tournament

It was one of those dominating knocks that single handedly chased down opposition’s total and that too by scoring more than 60% of the required runs. Prabal’s knock helped Mishra Sports chase down 174 runs with 5 wickets to spare in the Wow Sports U-14 Tournament. (Match Report)

4. Mayur- 106* in All India BK Gupta Memorial

Mayur- Bal Bhawan, Mayur Vihar

Batting first, Mayur’s dominating knock eased the pressure off the bowlers as he helped his team post a mammoth 236 runs in 20 overs. It left such an impact that the opponents lost by a margin of more than 100 runs. (Match Report)

5. Akash Chauhan- 105* in All India BK Gupta Memorial

Akash Chouhan- DPS Mathura Road

Akash Chauhan, DPS Mathura Road

Yet another century in All India BK Gupta Memorial, this time by DPS Mathura Road batsman Akash Chauhan. Coming in just 55 balls with 13 fours and 4 sixes, his knock helped his school defeat Venkateswara School by a huge margin of 133 runs. (Match Report)
